“Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian travellers can’t seem to get enough of the big city flavour mixed with old world charm that Hong Kong offers,” says Craig Hewett, co-founder of Wego. “Our concerted efforts over the past year have been to popularise unique and hidden aspects of the cosmopolitan city.”
Getting together and celebrating with family and friends at the end of the year is nothing new, but this year the “Winter Reunion” campaign by partners Hong Kong Tourism Board and Wego, the online travel marketplace, aims to boost arrivals into the city.
The campaign aims to target families and close-knit groups of travellers keen to bond over memorable moments in the city while the festivities are high and the weather pleasantly cool.
“The year-end is a season of celebrations and holidays, and Hong Kong is the ideal destination to bond and spend memorable times with beloved friends and families," says Raymond Chan, regional director, South-east Asia, Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Wego’s markets in Asia Pacific and the Middle East show strong ties with Hong Kong’s key source markets Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, making them ideal partners.
Content marketing, videos, social media contests and influencer outreach programmes are set to keep interest in the city sky high.
“Our bundled suite of promotions has been crafted to project that special, warm feeling achieved when travelling (with loved ones) to exciting destinations such as Hong Kong,” says Hewett. “The city’s unique sightseeing and local dining and shopping options are also highlighted in these marketing touch points.”
