Getting around Sentosa could soon become as simple as hailing a ride on demand.
Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and TADA Mobility will pilot a free, on-demand shared autonomous vehicle service from early 2027.
This will provide visitors more direct connections between hotels, beaches and attractions without needing to change to a beach shuttle.
The pilot will launch with two WeRide-developed vehicles. The first phase will cover western Sentosa, connecting locations around Siloso, Imbiah and Beach Station.
Rides will operate from 1pm to 7pm during the pilot, alongside the island’s existing buses and beach shuttles. A total of 27 pick-up and drop-off points will be introduced progressively, with expansion to the rest of Sentosa subject to Land Transport Authority approval.
The vehicles will use public roads and service roads along Siloso and Palawan beaches, providing more direct access to beachfront attractions and restaurants. These service roads are not accessible to passenger cars or private-hire vehicles.
Guests will book through TADA’s on-demand mobility platform, with GPS data suggesting the nearest available pick-up and drop-off points. The vehicles will follow predetermined routes but can skip stops, with the pilot testing whether this approach can reduce waiting times and shorten connections.
Each vehicle will seat up to eight guests and carry a trained safety operator, supported by remote monitoring. SDC and TADA will conduct further trials of routes, bookings, boarding and safety procedures before the public pilot begins.
