Last week (November 8), the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and Hubei Provincial Commission of Tourism Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of 2018, Chongqing and Hubei Three Gorges Regional Cooperation on Tourism.

Known for its stunning Three Gorges on the upper Yangtze River, Chongqing is a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international travellers.

The MOU will see both parties jointly develop the Yangtze River Three Gorges into the world’s largest ecotourism demonstration zone and be a leading example of China’s green development.

Chongqing tourism authority will work to integrate ecotourism industries and develop cruising, eco-agricultural sightseeing, folk customs experience, historical and cultural research and scientific investigation.

There are also plans to improve public services between cities.

Regular events also provide draws to the region.

The 9th China Yangtze River Three Gorges International Tourism Festival was recently held in Wanzhou and the second China Stone-Ground Tofu Cultural Tourism Festival opened in Dianjiang County this month.

According to World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC)’s City Travel & Tourism Impact Report 2018, Chongqing is the world's fastest growing city in direct travel and tourism GDP in the past decade.
