Digital travel platform Agoda has begun a beta rollout of a new AI Assistant designed to help travellers turn ideas into personalised, bookable trips.

Initially available to a select group of Agoda mobile app users, the tool is intended to bring trip planning, comparison, booking and itinerary management together in one place. Agoda plans to expand access to all app users over the coming months as it gathers feedback during the beta phase.

Planning a trip often means switching between AI chats, search engines, review sites, maps and booking platforms. Agoda’s AI Assistant aims to reduce that friction by connecting conversational planning with its live inventory of more than six million accommodation properties, as well as flights and activities.

Users can explore destinations, compare options, check live prices and availability, and book within the same app experience. The assistant also retains travel preferences and trip context as plans develop, allowing users to return to an unfinished itinerary without starting again.

The assistant’s core conversational capability is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 model. For more complex requests, such as planning a family holiday with teenagers, it uses Google Gemini’s Grounding with Google Maps feature, which draws on current Maps information including ratings, photos and opening hours to recommend places.

“Planning a trip today can feel like a second job. People bounce between tabs, screenshots, group chats, and a spreadsheet nobody wants to update,” said Omri Morgenshtern, Agoda’s CEO.

“Agoda’s AI Assistant takes that chaos off travellers’ plates. It remembers what they like, keeps the trip on track, and lets people get back to the fun part of actually looking forward to the holiday.”
