John Rice doubles up on his dual roles at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, with Singapore and Philippines as the key destinations.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts welcomes John Rice as General Manager of Shangri-La Singapore, who joins on 1 November. Rice is also concurrently holding the position of Vice President, Operations (Philippines), and will continue to oversee Shangri-La properties in the Philippines.

As General Manager, Rice will continue to drive commercial growth, inspire service excellence, enhance guest engagement, strengthen community partnerships and elevate the hotel’s luxury family positioning.

“As we expect the gradual opening of the borders and look forward to welcoming more international guests in the coming days, the key focus for the hotel would be to continue anchoring our priority on the health and safety of our guests through our Shangri-La Cares commitment,” said Rice.

In his previous capacity, Rice was instrumental in leading high-performing hotel teams across six hotels and resorts in Manila, Cebu and Boracay. He was also pivotal in leading the teams through the COVID-19 pandemic by identifying new revenue streams, launching new business initiatives and driving commercial results. Additionally, Rice also launched Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, the Shangri-La Group’s first mixed-use lifestyle destination.
