From 1 January 2021, the Shangri-La Group is offering international
travellers staying at any of its four Singapore hotels with
complimentary Covid-19 insurance should a guest tests positive for the
virus during their stay.
As part of the hospitality group's Shangri-La Cares commitment to
build travel confidence, the policy covers up to S$250,000 (US$189,658)
in emergency medical coverage, as well as additional accommodation and
travel expenses should the affected guest require to extend their stay
for medical reasons.
For all enquires, guests may contact underwriter AIG — also one of
the three announced insurance providers offering Covid coverage for
inbound travellers to Singapore starting November 2020 — and will have
access to round-the-clock emergency travel help while in Singapore.
“We have chosen to start with the Singapore market as the Singapore
government has been proactively relaxing travel restrictions in a
gradual and calibrated manner and has highlighted Covid-19 insurance
coverage as a key enabler to rebuilding traveller confidence," said Chan
Kong Leong, regional CEO for the Shangri-La Group in Southeast Asia
& Australasia.
"[This] further cements our efforts to create a trusted and safe
environment, so our guests can focus on enjoying the moments that truly
matter during their stay with us."
To qualify, international guests need to enter via Singapore's
Reciprocal Green Lane arrangement or be in possession of an air travel
pass. As well, stays will have to be booked at a publicly listed rate
directly through www.shangri-la.com,
on the hotel's mobile app or reservations hotline. The policy will
automatically take effect for all confirmed stays between 1 January and
30 June 2021.
The four participating properties are: Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore;
Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa; JEN Singapore Orchard
Gateway and JEN Singapore Tanglin – which have all received the SG Clean
quality mark, a certification awarded by the Singapore government to
businesses and organisations that commit to upholding high hygiene and
sanitation standards.
