Among Cappadocia's famed fairy chimneys, cave dwellings and underground cities, a new hotel has opened its doors: Elika Cave Suites Cappadocia, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.

Located in the historic village of Ortahisar – anchored by the eponymous 86m-high volcanic rock fortress – this marks the hospitality giant’s first cave hotel, restored from centuries-old cave dwellings, with each space carefully preserving the site’s structure.

The result is a hotel that houses 36 keys amid open-air pathways and a village-like layout.

Apart from the public access outdoor pool, cave suites come with private pools, while the villa includes a glass-fronted infinity pool. Rooms feature traditional Turkish hammams, as well as fireplaces and hot tubs.

The spa experience is enhanced within the cave structure with water elements. Guests can soak in the reinterpretation of traditional Turkish bath culture at the two treatment rooms, hammam, a steam room, sauna and rain shower area.

Meals centre around Cappadocian and Anatolian cuisine, interpreted through contemporary techniques.

Goreme, located on the central Anatolia plateau within a volcanic landscape sculpted by erosion to form a succession of mountain ridges, valleys and pinnacles, is five kilometers away. Urgup offers a modern downtown vibe, a 15-minute drive away.

“Our objective was to preserve the region’s heritage while offering contemporary comfort and one-of-a-kind moments formed by local identity and a global perspective. Here, history is not only seen but experienced, becoming part of each guest’s journey,” said GM, Nilüfer Durukan.
