Explora Journeys has cancelled plans to enter the Middle East during the 2027-28 season, in a statement sent to booked passengers.
The cruise line was due to deploy Explora I in the region, sailing the Arabian Gulf and neighbouring countries from November 2027 to February 2028.
Another ship planned to sail the Middle East was Explora V, sailing between January and March 2028 on the Red Sea. Stops would include Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Explora has cited the evolving situation in the region, following “a careful review of deployment plans”. It noted that the decision was made well ahead of time to allow guests and travel advisors to plan future sailings.
New plans will see Explora I redeployed to South America, while Explora V sails a new Mediterranean season.
“The Arabian Gulf and Red Sea remain destinations of strong interest to our guests, and we look forward to sailing in the region in the future,” the company added.
All affected guests will be contacted directly, with refunds issued to the original payment mode. They will also receive a future cruise credit of Euro 250 per guest, for up to two guests per suite to be redeemed on any new voyage within a year, as a gesture of appreciation.
