More mixed-use developments are rising up in Johor Bahru, the southernmost state of Peninsular Malaysia, just next to Singapore.

The latest? Bukit Chagar RTS Link Station, which will be jointly developed by Singapore’s MRT Corporation (MRT Corp) and Malaysia’s Sunway Integrated Properties Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Sunway Berhad.

This newest development, spanning 1.7 hectares of prime land, will be fully integrated with the ICQ Complex and Bukit Chagar RTS Station, connecting Johor Bahru with Singapore’s Woodlands North Station. The project integrates transportation, retail and lifestyle elements, embodying the concept of ‘mobility meets lifestyle’ to improve the commuter experience and aims to enhance urban connectivity and lifestyle.

Visitors at the Bukit Chagar Integrated Mixed-Use Development can look forward to a hotel, serviced apartments, a health and wellness hub with a dedicated space providing healthcare services; retail mall and educational institutions; high-rise residences; and a multi-storey car park offering 1,550 car parks and 1,015 motorbike bays.

According to Sunway Group’s Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sir Jeffrey Cheah, the mixed-use development will serve as a catalyst for economic growth across the Greater Johor Baru area.

Construction of the Bukit Chagar development is set to begin in March 2025, with the first phase expected to open by 30 November 2026.
