Efforts to lure visitors away from Bali’s ritzy but crowded south are gaining momentum with plans for fast ferry services linking west Bali with the island of Java.

Ready to make a splash is a 300-passenger fast boat service between Seranagan Port, south of Denpasar, and Banyuwangi in east Java. The service is scheduled to launch in June.

Officials are currently doing final checks on port facilities but are confident that the service will launch on time and open up new experiences for visitors to Bali and Java.

News travel site Bali Sun is reporting that in addition to the new fast boost services connecting tourists from Bali with east Java, new ocean taxi services will be launched by the end of the year, connecting tourists directly from Denpasar Bali Airport to the resort hotspots of Canggu, Legian, Kuta, Sanur and Nusa Dua.
