A Korean company will build a multi-billion tourism complex in Vientiane that will include hotels, restaurants, a golf course and a stadium.
Privately-owned Oriental Pearl Company has been given the go-ahead by the Lao government to start building the complex, which will have a strong emphasis on health and wellness.
The planned development include a leisure area comprising a water park, walking trail and nature conservation area, the company’s vice president Lathdavone Phounsavath said.
The total project area will be 1,200 hectares, with an investment cost of US$2.9 billion.
Oriental Pearl said it will target Koreans as potential customers, especially sports enthusiasts, leveraging its strong network with Korean business operators and tourism service providers.
