Authorities in Hanoi have finally lost patience with vendors along a
street where trains travel along a track within touching distance of
homes and businesses.
Despite Hanoi Train Street being an Instagram favourite with
tourists, authorities in the Vietnam capital says the risk of injury is
too great to allow activities in the street to continue.
The street has long been one of the most popular tourist sites in Hanoi and a regular favourite on social media.
The train track is still operational, and CNN says there have been
security issues with tourists who like to sit, lie down and pose on the
tracks.
After several warnings, the Hanoi regional government is now taking
action by revoking licences for coffee shops and other businesses along
the street.
In addition, barricades are already being put in place to stop tourists from accessing the street.
