Fans of HBO’s Emmy-winning series, The White Lotus will have to wait
until 2025 to see Season 3 with filming scheduled to begin in February
in Bangkok, Phuket and Ko Samui.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Tourism Authority of Thailand governor, said
Thailand’s “exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites and diverse
landscapes” made it one of the world’s favourite filming locations.
The White Lotus made its debut in 2021, set in Hawaii. Season 1
received 10 Emmy awards, including best limited or anthology series. The
second season, which premiered in December 2022, was set in Sicily and
is nominated for 23 Emmys, including best drama series.
The series follows the guests and employees of the fictional White
Lotus luxury hotel chain. The White Lotus property, in real life, is a
Four Seasons resort, where Season 1 was exclusively shot in Maui,
Hawaii.
In Season 2, the show moved to a new Four Seasons location overlooking the Ionian Sea in Sicily.
After the first series, the LA Times said the White Lotus “portrays a
tropical retreat for the super-rich as a simmering cauldron of class
conflict, environmental despair and white privilege — somewhere to
unravel rather than unwind”.
But as one TV critic noted, “It’s certainly the type of series that
may make you second-guess any of your intended vacation plans.”
The White Lotus Season 3 is due to premier on HBO in 2025.
