Bali has many beautiful villages and one that has caught the eye of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is the fishing village of Pemuteran.

The village in north Bali has been named as one of the Best Tourism Villages in the World in 2025.

Pemuteran Village has been developed as a marine conservation tourism village thanks to considerable community support.

Now, villagers have been rewarded for their coral restoration efforts which have helped reef and marine life to thrive.

Head of the Bueleng Tourism Office, Gede Dody Sukma Oktiva Askara, said, “Underwater conservation, coral reef maintenance, and collaboration between the community, businesses, and the government are the hallmarks of Pemuteran Village compared to other tourist villages.”

Pemuteran isn’t the first village in Bali to be recognised by the WTO. Penglipuran Village in Bangli Regency and Jatiluwih Village in Tabanan Regency, which overlooks the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, are previous recipients of the ‘Best Tourism Village’ award.
