Over the next 12 months, Filipinos, Saudi Arabians and Canadians are expected to spend more than other travellers from around the world, revealed the latest survey by YouGov for the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for the latter’s global summit in Riyadh.

However, Australians are likely to be the world’s biggest spenders in international travel in that period, according to the survey which was conducted across 26,000 people from 25 countries.

The survey also indicated that 63% of the respondents are planning a leisure trip, and around 27% of consumers planning three or more trips in the next 12 months.

In the meantime, the YouGov ‘global tracker’ showed that the attractiveness and positive impression of Saudi Arabia as a destination continues to grow, with the highest scores across countries in the Gulf region, along with Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Noting that international travel is back based on the survey results, Julia Simpson, WTTC president and CEO, said travellers are getting ready to explore the world again.

Sustainable travel is a growing importance for consumers as 61% of respondents mentioned that they prefer travel brands and destinations that are more sustainable.

About 45% said they would only spend their “hard-earned money” with brands that are socially and environmentally responsible.
