Europe’s sizzling summer heat has ruined a River Danube trip for 146 passengers who had booked a cruise from Budapest onboard the TUI-operated Skyla.
After arriving in the Hungarian capital, passengers were advised of an air conditioning issue, which the vessel’s engineers were unable to immediately fix.
Passengers were sent to a hotel for the night before being flown back to the UK when the air con issue persisted.
Europe has been in the grip of a heatwave, and temperatures in Budapest have been in the high 30s.
In a statement, Tui River Cruises told the BBC it was "aware of a technical issue affecting the air conditioning on Tui Skyla following the extreme heat in Budapest, and we're very sorry for the disruption this is causing to our customers' holidays”.
All affected customers will receive a full refund for their cruise, along with a holiday voucher.
