Asia has become a pleasure playground for Thai travellers with theme parks influencing destination choices in the region, according to Traveloka booking data.
The travel platform says the trend reflects a broader shift toward experience-led, personalised travel, “where activities and attractions increasingly influence destination choices rather than simply complementing them”.
According to Traveloka, demand among Thai travellers has risen significantly for several leading theme parks across the region. The fastest-growing attractions include:
● Universal Studios Singapore – recorded 219% year-on-year growth, reflecting its appeal as a convenient, high-value short-haul destination that combines entertainment, dining, and a full-day experience.
● Hong Kong Disneyland – saw 142% year-on-year growth, driven by renewed appetite for short-haul leisure travel and the park’s ongoing investment in new experiences and seasonal programming.
● Everland Theme Park, South Korea – recorded over 53% year-on-year growth, supported by continued enthusiasm for Korean culture, entertainment, and lifestyle experiences among Thai travellers.
● Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, Japan – recorded 20% year-on-year growth, with Tokyo DisneySea in particular drawing repeat visitors for its unique attractions and seasonal events unavailable elsewhere in the world.
"The strong growth we're seeing across major theme parks in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea suggests that attractions are no longer just part of the itinerary – they are increasingly becoming the primary reason people travel,” said Thipaporn Duangmak, Country Manager at Traveloka.
Theme parks have evolved beyond being family-focused attractions, Traveloka says.
“Today, they appeal to a broader audience, including young adults, couples, and repeat travellers who are drawn by immersive environments, seasonal attractions, and themed experiences inspired by intellectual property in movies, animation, gaming, and popular culture,” the OTA adds.
