State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will be launching a new luxury sleeper train car today (June 12).
The train car will be attached to KA Argo Anggrek, which travels from Gambir Station in Jakarta to Pasarturi Surabaya Station in East Java, The Jakarta Post reported.
Each passenger will be offered amenities such as a 170-degree reclining seat, electric foot rest, 12-inch TV with headset, USB charging power source, foldable food tray, pillow and blanket, trash bin, mirror, cup holder, compartment to store shoes, magazine and coat hanger.
“The exclusive service provided in this train car is similar to an airline’s business class," said PT KAI Operation Regional (Daop) 3 Cirebon public relations manager Krisbiyantoro on Monday.
One train car can accommodate 18 passengers. Complimentary meals, beverage and snacks will also be provided.
The service will be initially offered at a promotional rate of Rp 900,000 (US$64.50) for one month. Booking will be available through the company’s reservation channels.
