Many claim to love travel, but few turn that passion into a
successful career in hospitality. Ileshaa Nijhawan is one of those rare
individuals whose globetrotting experiences have shaped her into a
formidable force in the luxury hotel industry.
Fairmont The Norfolk and Fairmont Mara Safari Club have recently
appointed Nijhawan as their new cluster commercial director. With over
15 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Nijhawan brings a wealth
of international expertise to her new role in Kenya.
Nijhawan is dubbed a “globalista” for good reason, after having lived
and worked across the UAE, Qatar, India, UK, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia,
Oman, and Spain. This multicultural background has undoubtedly
influenced her approach to hospitality and business development.
Nils Rothbarth, general manager of both properties, expressed
enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "Her strategic vision,
leadership expertise, customer-centric approach, and track record for
driving revenue growth align perfectly with our commitment to delivering
exceptional guest experiences and maintaining our hotels'
differentiation."
Nijhawan's impressive career includes notable achievements such as
leading the preopening strategy for Waldorf Astoria Lusail during the
FIFA World Cup in Qatar and significantly increasing MICE business for a
cluster of Marriott properties in Dubai.
In her new position, Nijhawan will spearhead commercial sales and
marketing strategies for both Kenyan properties. She expressed her
excitement, saying, "I am looking forward to this new challenge and
immersing myself in the African market. My focus will be on leveraging
my extensive hospitality experience to build and nurture relationships
with key travel partners in Africa."
