Suranga Ratnayake, one of Aitken Spence Travels' senior executives
for over two decades, is now the destination management company's COO.
In this new role, effective since 15 August 2022, Ratnayake will be
responsible for the overall management of operations under the
leadership of managing director, Nalin Jayasundera. He takes over from
previous COO, Tikiri Ellepola, who has played a vital role in driving
Aitken Spence Travels’ growth through his tenure of over four decades.
The industry veteran has shown his extensive, multi-faceted
experience in driving strategy, business development, operations, and
marketing over his 25-year-long career in travel and leisure. At Aitken
Spence Travels, he has provided leadership to several diverse verticals,
collaborated extensively with industry stakeholders in promoting Sri
Lanka as a destination and played a vital role in developing strategic
source markets.
Aitken Spence Travels is one of Sri Lanka's oldest destination
management companies, with operations and a strong presence in Maldives
and Myanmar. It is also is part of Aitken Spence, one of Sri Lanka’s
largest conglomerates with interests in tourism, maritime, logistics and
