Discova has announced the appointment of Olivia Yeji Jeung as the new
country manager for Japan, effective 1 July 2024. In her role, Jeung
will oversee the day-to-day development and execution of Discova's
business operations in Japan.
Jeung brings over 15 years of experience living in Japan and holds a
Master's degree in Japanese Linguistics and Literature. Her professional
background includes leadership positions at American Express, Booking.com,
and Expedia. She also previously worked as a coordinator for
international relations under the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Peter Christiansen, Discova's director of operations, commented on
the appointment: "Olivia brings a wealth of experience to our
organisation, and we're excited about the fresh perspectives and
valuable insights she will contribute to our operations in the Japanese
market."
Jeung expressed enthusiasm about her new role, stating, "I am excited
to grow the Japan business with our fresh and capable team, and I am
more than happy to support each team member's professional growth while
we boost the crazy travel demand in the market!"
Outside of work, Jeung is an avid ice hockey player, serving as a
goalkeeper for a local team. She also enjoys travelling and exploring
lesser-known destinations in Japan.
Regarding travel recommendations, Jeung highlighted Hokkaido as a
favourite destination, noting, "It's a perfect place to enjoy a variety
of nature, great food, and leisure, including skiing!"
