BEIJING – Borders continue to close as countries around the world tighten their defences against coronavirus.
China is suspending most entry to the country by foreigners and halting almost all international passenger flights.
The move highlights China’s concern that international travellers might trigger a second wave of coronavirus infections.
Foreign residents of China and foreigners with previously issued visas will no longer be allowed to enter the country, China’s foreign ministry declared late Thursday.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s embassies in neighbouring countries have closed visa services following Thursday’s emergency decree that bans all travel to the country.
And Malaysia has extended its existing 14-day nationwide movement control order from March 31 to April 14, as the number of coronavirus infections continues to rise.
