New Zealand’s AJ Hackett Bungy continues to soar in the world of adrenalin-packed tourism experiences. It is about to launch the world’s highest lift-and-descent ride at Auckland’s Sky Tower.

AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand opened the the world’s first commercial bungy operation at the Kawarau Bridge in November 1988 and has been taking visitors for a thrilling ride ever since with bungy, zipride, swing, catapult, SkyWalk, SkyJump and bridge climbs across Queenstown, Taupō and Auckland.

Opening 26 June, SkyRide is a new vertical adventure experience that lifts customers outside of the Sky Tower before delivering a high-speed, controlled descent back to the ground.

Starting at 192 metres, riders on single or tandem seats are suspended in a sitting position off the edge of the tower before descending at speeds up to 100km/h.

The new experiences will complement the existing SkyWalk, a walk around the outer edge of the Sky Tower.

AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand co-founder and managing director Henry van Asch says SkyRide reflects the company’s continued focus on pushing boundaries while making iconic structures more engaging for visitors.

“SkyRide is a world-first for the height it reaches and continues our mission to redefine what’s possible in vertical adventure experiences,” he said.
