FATA appoints new president and executive director

Mingkwan Metmowlee of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) has been appointed as FATA president. Elsewhere, the FATA board also elected Chhay Sivlin, president of Cambodian Association of Travel Agents (CATA) as the deputy president.

The Federation of ASEAN Travel Association (FATA) held their Extraordinary General Meeting and Board meeting last week, and a few key appointments have been filled. 

Mingkwan Metmowlee of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) has been appointed as FATA president. Elsewhere, the FATA board also elected Chhay Sivlin, president of Cambodian Association of Travel Agents (CATA) as the deputy president. 

Meanwhile, Datuk Hamzah Rahmat has also been appointed as the new FATA executive director at the same meeting. On top of his new role, Hamzah will continue to be the official representative of FATA to World Travel Agents Association Alliance (WTAAA). 

“It is my pleasure and honour to serve the ASEAN tourism industry. I will focus on marketing in ASEAN, as well as uphold ethics of the tour and travel business and strive towards professionalism, encouragement, support and contribution to develop tourism into and within ASEAN,” said Mink. “We will align our missions with the vision of ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) by 2025. ASEAN will be a quality tourism destination offering a unique, diverse ASEAN experience and will be committed to responsible, sustainable and balance tourism development so as to contribute significantly to the socio-economic well being of the ASEAN people.”
