Thai Airways International has launched a new uniform for female cabin crew, that the airline says embraces “a combination of the national identity and sustainable development”.

The Thai Ruean Ton, the graceful Thai national dress worn by THAI flight attendants for six decades, is now weaved with synthetic thread made of recycled materials, and Thai silk.

The materials used in the dress further address THAI’s commitment to greenhouse gases emission reduction initiatives, as well as the airline’s net zero emission goal in 2050.

Several projects have recently been developed by the airline group under the Zero Waste Living principle consisting of three pillars, namely From Planes to Planet, From Waste to Wealth and From Purple to Purpose.

The new uniform has passed safety standards and will be worn by female flight attendants onboard from 1 January 2024.
