Christoph Mueller, 54, previously chief executive at Malaysia Airlines Bhd, is joining Emirates Airline this month in a newly created position of chief digital and innovation officer.
The German, who also ran Ireland’s Aer Lingus, will start his new job on September 20, according to Bloomberg News.
Mueller will report to Emirates president Tim Clark and Gary Chapman, who heads the group’s aviation services operations, including ground handling and catering specialist Dnata.
Mueller announced in April that he was leaving Malaysia Airlines, citing unspecified personal reasons beyond his control. His replacement as CEO is Peter Bellew, previously the airline’s chief operating officer.
