After a five-year hiatus, Lufthansa has reintroduced its Munich and Singapore connection on March 29, 2018.
With the addition of this new route, Lufthansa’s capacity weekly connecting Singapore and Germany – both Frankfurt and Munich – has increased by over 40%. The Group plans to grow organic point-to-point capacity in Asia Pacific by 23% in 2018 – this symbolises the largest regional growth across all Lufthansa markets, according to the media release.
The relaunched route comes as part of a joint venture between Lufthansa Group and SIA Group, which began last October.
Said Dieter Vranckx, vice president sales Asia-Pacific Lufthansa Group Airlines, “According to IATA, routes between Asia and Europe continue to be the strongest performers with 9.5% growth in 2017. And outbound travel and tourism expenditure from Southeast is forecasted at a 4.9% growth in 2018 compared to 1.2% in 2017, according to World Travel & Tourism Council; there is definitely a growing demand from this region.”
Flights depart from Singapore every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday at 22:55 and arriving at 05:25+1 (local time). They depart from Munich every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 22:00 (local time) and arrive in Singapore 16:05+1.
According to Steffen Harbarth, chief commercial officer of Munich Hub, the flights are “ideally timed” as travellers can look forward to connecting to 77 European destinations within 180 minutes.
The new route will be serviced via the Airbus A350-900, which features 48 seats in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy, and 224 in Economy Class to total a capacity of 293.
