Europe-based carrier Wizz Air has launched an all-you-can-fly
subscription service, an idea borrowed from all-you-can-eat buffets in
restaurants.
The Hungarian airline will allow those who signed up at €599 (US$668)
per year access to all flights across the company’s international
network spanning 950 routes across Europe, North Africa, the Middle East
and Asia.
On top of the subscription fee, each pass holder will have to pay a
separate, additional €9.99 (US$11.13) flat fee per flight before they
travel.
There is other small print, too.
‘All You Can Fly’ members can only book flights up to 72 hours before
departure, so if you’re someone who likes to book well ahead of a
flight, this one’s not for you.
Members can only book one-way tickets. And the ticket includes only
the airfare and a personal item. Additional luggage (including cabin
baggage), seat selection and priority boarding incurs extra charges.
Wizz Air hopes to sell 10,000 memberships. Each country that Wizz Air flies to has a set allocation of passes.
