AirAsia X has succumbed to the lure of Europe again, 13 years after it shelved flights to London and Paris.

The low-cost carrier will launch direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul  with the first flight scheduled for 14 November.

The new direct service will operate four times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays – using the Airbus A330-300.

The airline will operate from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, a major hub with connections to more than 117 international and 40 domestic destinations.

Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X said, “Hot on the heels of our recent expansion into Central Asia, this long-awaited route takes us one step closer to delivering longer connectivity across continents.

“As the only city in the world built on two continents, Istanbul perfectly captures our vision to bridge Asia and beyond through affordable, medium-haul travel.”

AirAsia X is offering introductory fares starting from RM 499 (US$110) one-way for economy class from Malaysia.

Premium flatbed seats are available from RM 3,999 (US$ 945). Tickets are on sale now until 20 August with a travel window from 14 November until late 2026, depending on the fare type.

In a separate development, AirAsia X will exit its Nairobi service in September.
