Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will make it easier to book flights between India and Singapore from 15 October 2026, allowing customers to purchase eligible services operated by either airline through the other carrier without having to include a flight operated by the booking airline.

The expanded arrangement covers 126 weekly flights linking Singapore with eight Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Eligible flights will be available on a standalone basis through the other airline’s website, mobile app and appointed travel agencies.

Currently, an eligible Air India-operated codeshare flight booked through SIA must be part of an itinerary that includes an SIA-operated flight, and vice versa. Removing this requirement will give travellers and travel agents greater flexibility when selecting services between the two countries.

The changes mark the first phase of initiatives under the airlines’ Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement, signed in January 2026. Enhanced reciprocal frequent flyer benefits will follow from the second quarter of 2027.

More benefits for frequent flyers

Air India’s Maharaja Club Platinum and SIA’s PPS Club members will receive reciprocal priority check-in and boarding privileges on eligible routes, alongside other top-tier members of the respective airlines. Maharaja Club Silver and KrisFlyer Elite Silver members will receive additional baggage allowances and priority boarding on eligible routes. The benefits will supplement existing Star Alliance privileges.

The changes build on improvements introduced in April 2026, when the airlines expanded the booking classes eligible for reciprocal mileage accrual and revised earn rates across all cabin classes. Maharaja Club and KrisFlyer members can now earn miles on a wider range of eligible flights operated by either carrier.

“Demand for travel between Singapore and India remains strong, and this partnership will give customers greater choice and convenience, as well as enhanced reciprocal benefits for our frequent flyer members,” said Lee Lik Hsin, chief commercial officer of Singapore Airlines.

Air India chief commercial officer Nipun Agarwal said the cooperation aimed to bring greater consistency to the experience of shared customers while offering more choice, convenience and value.

Further cooperation planned

The airlines are also working on better schedule connectivity to reduce layovers and waiting times, enhanced offerings for corporate customers and further measures to streamline travel. No launch dates were specified for these initiatives.

Their existing codeshare agreement covers 77 destinations across 27 countries and territories, connecting passengers through hubs in Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore to destinations across Asia, Europe, North America and Australia.
