Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has recently published its annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report, outlining the progress made in its sustainability initiatives.

The report is part of the company's global sustainability program, Sail & Sustain, and focuses on key areas such as Reducing Environmental Impact, Sailing Safely, Strengthening Communities, Empowering People, and Operating with Integrity and Accountability.

In the 2022 ESG report, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings emphasises its ambitious climate action strategy and targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These targets include a 10% reduction in GHG intensity by 2026 and a 25% reduction by 2030, measured against a 2019 baseline on a per Capacity Day basis.

The company is also actively exploring alternative fuel sources, such as green methanol and biodiesel blends, to promote decarbonisation within its fleet. Additionally, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has been focusing on water stewardship, improving water production rates, and implementing efforts to decrease water consumption across its fleet.

Sailing Safely is another important aspect covered in the report. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has a comprehensive 24/7/365 public health and safety programme in place, which surpasses regulatory requirements. The company works closely with health authorities worldwide to continuously improve policies and procedures related to public health.

Empowering its workforce and fostering diversity and inclusion are key priorities for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. The company has expanded its employee benefits by introducing Family Care Benefits, including fully paid maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. It also strives to create a diverse workforce, with significant representation of women in managerial positions.

The company has donated over US$2 million to nonprofit organisations globally, with a particular focus on disaster relief efforts.
