China's Ministry of Transport has greenlit the resumption of international cruise services at domestic ports, marking a significant step in the recovery of the cruise industry in China.

After a successful pilot programme that began in March and resumed traffic from Shanghai and Shenzhen, the decision paves the way for international cruise lines to plan itineraries in Northeast Asia.

Weihang Zheng, executive vice president and secretary-general of the China Cruise and Yacht Industry Association (CCYIA), noted that approximately 16 Chinese cities could soon welcome cruise traffic.

Several international cruise companies, like MSC Cruises, have already announced plans to enter the China market next year, and with this policy change, more are expected to follow suit.
