Sabre's average booking fee was US$5.81 in the first quarter, up 7% from a year earlier.

During the company's first-quarter earnings call Thursday, CFO Mike Randolfi attributed that increase to growing corporate travel volume.

Sabre's average booking fee has been increasing for the past several quarters.

"We've seen over the last several quarters a favourable mix in the types of travel and the mix of airlines, and that continued in the first quarter of this year," Randolfi said.

Specifically, there was "significant strength" in the Asia Pacific region that drove the average booking fee higher.

President and CEO Kurt Ekert said that number was also bolstered by "above average" booking fees from non-air bookings, which were up 8% year over year.

Ekert expects Sabre's average booking fee to remain near US$5.81 for the remainder of the year.

Revenue in the first quarter totalled US$783 million, a 5% increase. Sabre's operating income was US$98 million compared to an operating loss of US$213,000 in the first quarter of 2023.
