The marketing campaign use facial recognition technology to predict an individual’s dream Queensland getaway.
Those smart marketing people at Air New Zealand have come up with another clever campaign that they hope will lure travellers to Queensland - flying Air NZ of course.
The marketing campaign uses facial recognition technology to predict an individual’s dream Queensland getaway.
The campaign, run in partnership with Tourism & Events Queensland, uses specially designed software to monitor a range of visual cues including eye, mouth and other facial movements and expressions as viewers watch footage of a dozen diverse and exciting Queensland experiences.
It then makes a personalised recommendation based on which experiences evoke the most positive reactions.
“Using facial recognition technology in this way is a first for Air New Zealand and is an exciting way for us to engage with our customers and show them some Queensland experiences that they may not have previously considered,” said Air New Zealand general manager market development and retail sales, Annabelle Fowler
Those who watch the video can also go in the draw to win a Great Barrier Reef experience.
Air New Zealand operates non-stop services to four Queensland destinations – Brisbane and the Gold Coast year round, and Sunshine Coast and Cairns (seasonally).

Global Wrap Take: We watched the video and – going on facial expressions – it recommended we were best suited to a ‘Feast of Street Eats’ getaway. No surprise there.
