Hong Kong will host the Puma Hyrox World Championships in 2027, marking the first time the global fitness racing event's season finale will be staged in Asia Pacific.
Taking place from 10 to 13 June at AsiaWorld-Expo, the championship reflects both the rapid rise of HYROX globally and Hong Kong's growing status as a hub for major sporting events.
The first Hyrox event in APAC was launched in Hong Kong in 2022, and the indoor fitness race has now taken the region by storm - with nearly 20,000 participants in the city’s sixth race.
Founded in Germany in 2017, Hyrox combines eight one-kilometre runs with eight functional workout stations, bringing professional athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts together in the same competition. Since launching its first championship in 2019, the event's season finale has been hosted exclusively in Europe and North America.
With the 2025/26 season receiving 1.5 million participants across 95 cities, and the 2026 edition in Stockholm expected to draw one million viewers worldwide, Hong Kong authorities say the 2027 event will bring “significant economic value to the city, cementing its status as a global hub for sports”.
“Hosting our 2027 season finale in Hong Kong is a historic step forward, demonstrating not only the growth of our sport in the APAC region, but also our commitment to bringing world-class hybrid racing to new global hubs,” said Christian Toetzke, co-founder and CEO at Hyrox.
