Train lovers now have a new route to explore, a rail journey from
Guiyang, the capital of China’s southwestern province of Guizhou, to the
Laotian capital of Vientiane.
The inaugural service left Guiyang this week and arrived in Vientiane one day later.
The train carries 240 passengers on an eight-day excursion that will
provide access to landmark attractions in Laos, including Luang Prabang
and Vang Vieng.
The service is expected to run on a monthly schedule, with extra trains added depending on passenger numbers.
The trip can be booked through regional travel agencies or digital platforms.
In the other direction, tourists from South-east Asia will be offered itinerary options tailored to explore Guizhou.
Previously, Yunnan, Hubei, and Beijing have offered tourism products to Laos through the Laos-China railway system.
As of May 6, more than one million tourists had completed procedures
to travel between China and Laos, up 89% year-on-year, local media
reported.
