The Travel Corporation (TTC) will be seeing several key management promotions following the retirement of its Asia president Robin Yap.

After 33 years with TTC, Yap will step into a new non-executive role as chairman emeritus for TTC Asia, effective June 1, 2018.

At the same time, current president of Trafalgar Asia, Nicholas Lim, will become managing director of TTC Asia. Mae Cheah, currently regional sales director, Trafalgar, will become president of Trafalgar Asia reporting to Lim.

Prior to his promotion, Lim was president Asia of Trafalgar and president TTC India.  As managing director, he will focus on business development of TTC’s other key brands such as Luxury Gold, Insight Vacations, Contiki Holidays and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, Red Carnation, Inspiring Journeys and AAT Kings in Asia, as well as continuing to support TTC’s most important brand Trafalgar.

Reporting to Brett Tollman, Nicholas will also work with each of the global brand executives to execute the brand strategies and direction to fuel further growth for Asia, in particular the luxury travel market for international outbound leisure travel.

Cheah, who was with Trafalgar for four years, and 20 years previously at Thompsons Africa, another TTC brand, is another example of a long-service executive who has demonstrated her leadership potential in leading Trafalgar and CostSaver Asia.

On the key management promotions and retirement of Robin Yap, Brett Tollman, chief executive of TTC said, “We are very proud of our team and it gives us great pleasure to promote Nick and Mae, whom we have no doubt will shine in their new roles. Their respective promotions are a key decision in our ongoing strategic growth plans for Asia.”

He added, “We are also pleased that Robin will continue to support Nick and his team in his new role as Chairman Emeritus and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts for the unwavering, remarkable loyalty and dedication which he had displayed during his long tenure with the company.”
