With three decades of experience and expertise in the hospitality and
tourism industry under his belt, Steven Chua has been chosen to lead
the Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS) as its CEO.
According to Andrew Chua, chairman of TMIS, Steven is held in high
regard for “his forte in grooming and developing talents for the
industry”, made apparent during his tenure with Temasek Polytechnic and
SHATEC.
“As its pioneer academic team in Temasek for Hospitality &
Tourism, he was a core member in its curriculum design &
development, assessment and practicum modules,” said Andrew. “As the CEO
at SHATEC he was instrumental in the renewal of the SHATEC’s brand and
programme offerings.”
Over the past 30 years, Steven has held numerous high-profile
positions in the travel industry, comprising senior leadership roles
with Singapore’s Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), Singapore Sports
Hub, SATS Country Foods, Ponte 16 Casino Resort in Macau, Dhensa
Boutique Resorts in Bhutan and China’s Pearl River Delta Zhuhai Wanshan
Marine Development Zone.
Steven also played a crucial role in pioneering the curriculum and
assessment for the Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management at
Temasek Polytechnic. During his time with SDC, he helmed the Tourism
Academy @ Sentosa and sought ways to upgrade visitor experience on the
resort. He has aslo served as president and CEO of SHATEC for two years.
