Wharf Hotels has announced the appointment of Gerhard Aicher as the
new area general manager for its Marco Polo Hotels in Hong Kong.
Aicher took on the role on 12 June 2023, tasked with overseeing the
operations and financial performance of Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel,
Gateway Hotel, Hong Kong, and Prince Hotel, Hong Kong.
He brings to the table a wealth of experience spanning over 20 years
in the hospitality industry, with proven success in diverse areas such
as finance, operations, sales and marketing, and general management.
An Austrian native, Gerhard Aicher's passion for the hospitality industry originated from his family-owned hotel in Austria.
Before venturing into Asia, Aicher held prominent positions as
director of finance in several acclaimed hotels, including the Paris
Marriott Champs-Elysees, Le Meridien Vienna, and Le Meridien Stuttgart.
His expertise also extends to operations and sales & marketing.
Aicher's first foray into the role of general manager was in Hong Kong
back in 2007, where he led some of the city's most iconic hotels.
Prior to joining Wharf Hotels, he served as the CEO of the OTT hospitality division in Toronto, Canada.
