Tan Kim Seng has been named the new general manager of Aloft
Singapore Novena, effective 1 August 2024. He will succeed Tony Cousens,
who is retiring after overseeing the property's transition to the
Marriott International group in September 2023.
Tan brings over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry to
his new role. His previous positions include chief operating officer of
Meritus Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific Managing Director for IFH
Worldwide, and senior vice-president for Millennium & Copthorne
Hotels & Resorts, where he oversaw 18 hotels in the Asia Pacific
region from 2007 to 2008.
Tan's career began in 1981 when he received the inaugural Shangri-La
Scholarship at Cornell University's School of Hotel Management,
graduating as Class Valedictorian in 1985.
In addition to his new position, Tan holds several industry roles,
including director on the board of the Singapore Hotel Association,
president of the Singapore Serviced Apartments Association, and vice
president of the Cornell Hotel Society. He also serves as an advisor on
various hospitality-related boards and panels.
Aloft Singapore Novena is the first Aloft hotel in Singapore and the largest in the world under the Aloft brand.
