Hyatt Hotels Corporation has reopened Park Hyatt Tokyo following a 19-month restoration that marks the most extensive upgrade since the hotel opened in 1994.

The renovation, planned over four years with Paris-based design studio Jouin Manku, focused on modernising guestrooms, public areas and dining venues while retaining key elements of the original design by architect Kenzo Tange and interior designer John Morford.

The hotel occupies the upper 14 floors of Shinjuku Park Tower and is one of Tokyo’s most recognisable luxury properties.

Refreshed guestrooms unveiled

The 171 guestrooms and suites have been redesigned with new layouts, warmer materials and expanded wet-room style bathrooms. Contemporary Japanese art has been added across the room categories, while recognisable features such as Isamu Noguchi’s washi lamps remain.

A new category has been added. The new Park Suite spans 85 sqm, offering separate living and dining areas, generous storage, and views of Harajuku, Shibuya, Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park.

Standard Deluxe Rooms measure 55 sqm, located on floors 42 to 51, and feature deep soaking tubs, daybeds, and views of either the Tokyo skyline or Mt. Fuji.

Among the specialty suites, the Governor’s Suite measures 140 sqm on the 44th floor and is designed for quiet retreat with hinoki wood accents, a daybed, and a hinoki soaking tub.

The Diplomat Suite, at 160 sqm across the 48th and 49th floors, offers south- and east-facing views, a dining area for six, a pantry, and a marble bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower.

The Tokyo Suite, restored to its original design, covers 220 sqm on the 50th floor, and includes a steam sauna, kitchen, dining space for eight and a large living room.

The hotel’s largest accommodation, the Presidential Suite, spans 290 sqm on the 51st floor, comprising living, dining and library salons, a steam sauna, and a city-facing bathtub, jet bath and steam sauna. The dining room for ten comes complete with a bar.

Facilities refresh

As part of the overhaul, the hotel has launched Girandole by Alain Ducasse, a new French brasserie-style restaurant developed in partnership with the Ducasse Paris Group.

Other updated areas include:

  • The Peak Lounge & Bar features renewed bamboo landscaping and a refreshed cocktail programme highlighting ingredients from six Japanese prefectures.

  • New York Grill & Bar, located on the 52nd floor, has been restored to its original aesthetic and updated with new menu items and wine selections.

  • On the lower floors, the Delicatessen will reopen in March 2026 after further refurbishment.

Club On The Park, the hotel’s fitness and spa facility, remains in operation with its existing pool, Technogym equipment and treatment rooms. New spa programmes and seasonal treatments have been introduced.

Park Hyatt Tokyo first opened in 1994 as Asia’s inaugural Park Hyatt property.
