Hotel groups are continuing to build their sustainability credentials.

Pan Pacific Hotels Group has attained the Sustainable Tourism Council Industry (GSTC) Criteria certification for all eight of the group’s properties in Singapore.

Additionally, seven of its properties have obtained ISO14001 certification, an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems (EMS). Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore is in the process of securing ISO14001 certification.

Mandarin Oriental, meanwhile, has achieved GSTC-committed status following the group’s adoption of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council Industry Criteria v3.0.

The GSTC Industry Criteria encompasses corporate offices and all managed branded Mandarin Oriental properties worldwide.

The Group utilises the GSTC-recognised Greenview Portal as its sustainability management system, “ensuring transparency and accountability in its sustainability initiatives,” said Laurent Kleitman, CEO of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

During ITB Berlin, The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), together with international management consulting firm, Oliver Wyman, launched a Readiness Roadmap to simplify sustainability reporting in the Travel & Tourism sector.

WTTC said the roadmap is a “strategic compass”, enabling companies to decode sustainability reporting complexities, identify relevant compliance standards, and evaluate their sustainability data and platform maturity.
