Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced its first property in South Korea, set to open in Seoul in 2030.

Located in the Central Business District, north of the Han River, the boutique-style Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will feature 128 rooms and suites designed by André Fu, offering what the group describes as an “intimate and residential atmosphere”.

Dining will be a focal point, with a destination restaurant on the 21st floor and two culinary concepts on the 20th floor – one with an international style and another specialising in Chinese cuisine. A high-end Korean Chef’s Counter will also be introduced. On the ground floor, a bar, lounge and The Mandarin Cake Shop will welcome both guests and locals.

The hotel will provide event and meeting spaces, including a grand ballroom, function rooms and a private outdoor terrace.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will span four floors, combining traditional Korean healing with advanced wellness therapies. Facilities will include a 25-metre swimming pool, fitness centre, golf academy, multiball court, games room and kids’ club.

Laurent Kleitman, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, said: “Seoul is a dynamic cultural and economic hub and we are proud to be announcing our entry into this important market. Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will reflect our commitment to thoughtful growth, offering an experience that captures the essence of the destination while delivering the legendary service and design our guests expect.”
