Japan’s Hoshino Resorts is opening a hotel with a difference on Tokyo Bay.

1955 Tokyo Bay’s ‘Oldies, Goodies’ concept is inspired by the United States back in 1955 when the world’s first Disneyland was launched.

Opening 20 June, the interior design of 1955 Tokyo Bay will reflect “the good old days” of the United States, putting guests in the mood to head over to nearby Disneyland Tokyo.

Hotel amenities include the “2nd Room”, a public space that can be used 24 hours a day by hotel guests, before check-in or after check-out. The music playing in this room is reminiscent of the United States back in 1955, while its space showcases mid-century colours and interior designs that were popular at the time.

A total of 638 guest rooms across 23 different room types are available.

The Cafeteria serves meals even for guests arriving late at night; the Restaurant serves breakfast buffets from 6:00 am for guests departing early and a 24-hour Food & Drink Station offers snacks, light meals and beverages.

Hoshino Resorts 1955 Tokyo Bay is about 30 minutes by free shuttle bus to Tokyo Disney Resort.

DATE CHECK: We checked what was happening in the US in 1955. Here’s what we found: A gallon of gas cost 23 cents; the first riot at an Elvis Presley concert took place in Jacksonville, Florida; Bill Haley and the Comets ‘Rock Around The Clock’ was a big hit and the United States began its involvement in the Vietnam conflict.
