Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) has announced impressive results for the third quarter across its member hotels, with all key performance areas showing double-digit growth. Total hotel revenues reached US$689 million in Q3, contributing to a year-to-date total of $2 billion, a 15% increase. Room nights also rose by 16%.
The loyalty programme, GHA DISCOVERY, plays a key role in this success, now boasting 28.3 million members. In Q3, 66.2% of revenue from members came from international stays, with the US, UK, Germany, Australia, and China being the top markets, contributing 26% of total international room revenue.
Redemptions of DISCOVERY Dollars (D$), the loyalty programme's rewards currency, jumped by 95% compared to last year. This increase helped boost cross-brand revenues by 31%, reaching $100.7 million for the quarter and $276 million for the year.
GHA's hotels in Spain reported the highest room revenues, followed by those in Thailand, Italy, Singapore, and the UAE. Thailand led international room revenue with $34.7 million, primarily from international guests.
GHA's growth is also supported by adding four new regional brands in Norway, Greece, the UAE, and Malaysia, expanding its portfolio to over 800 hotels worldwide.
Chris Hartley, CEO of Global Hotel Alliance, said, “Our Q3 2024 results highlight the strength of the alliance proposition and the growing engagement of our GHA DISCOVERY members. The double-digit revenue growth and the sharp rise in direct bookings and DISCOVERY Dollar redemptions show that our expanding global presence continues to appeal to international travellers.
