FCM has expanded its global footprint through a joint venture with Japan's NSF Engagement (New Standards for Engagement).
The travel management company wants to support corporations via FCM’s service and technology to accelerate their return to travel, and choosing Japan — as the world’s fourth largest business travel market — "speaks volume of the tremendous potential Japan has towards FCM’s global strategy [in the region]," said FCM Travel Asia Managing Director Bertrand Saillet.
Feedback from FCM clients had revealed a lack of adequate end-to-end business travel solutions in Japan that was consistent and user-friendly, which Saillet noted was an opportunity for FCM to provide a differentiated service offering and to support customers in the region. "The Japanese travel market is ripe for disruption," he added.
FCM Japan General Manager Kenichi Shiraishi and his team will launch the full suite of FCM products and services, including the proprietary FCM Platform which debuted in China last month.
Instead of providing managed travel services to MNC customers through an agency as FCM has for the past 10 years, Shiraishi said that bringing in NSF Engagement will allow "a complete local infrastructure alignment and integration into FCM’s global systems, to provide customers with a true end-to-end FCM experience".
Of the venture, Shigeru Hiromatsu, president and CEO of NSF Engagement said: "FCM’s unconventional, innovative and flexible DNA resonates deeply with NSF Engagement’s belief that it is possible to use New Standards for Engagement to breakthrough conventional concepts through technological capabilities and an alternative approach while building a strong business with sustainable growth."
