A new tourist attraction, the Wat Doi Ti Skywalk, has opened in
Thailand's northern province of Lamphun. The glass-bottomed walkway,
unveiled on 10 August, offers visitors panoramic views of mountain
landmarks in both Lamphun and neighbouring Chiang Mai province.
Lamphun's provincial governor, Suntitorn Yimlamai, who presided over
the opening ceremony, stated, "Tourists visiting this glass-bottomed
skywalk will be able to see the Si Kru Ba pagoda and Wat Phra Phutthabat
Tak Pha temple, two of Lamphun's iconic religious attractions." He
added that visitors can also view Chiang Mai's Doi Suthep and Doi
Inthanon, the latter being Thailand's highest peak at 2,600 metres above
sea level.
The skywalk is situated near a shrine housing the largest statue in
Thailand of Kru Ba Sri Wichai, a highly venerated monk in the country.
According to Governor Yimlamai, the new attraction aligns with the
government's policy to boost tourism in secondary provinces and leverage
Thai cultural assets to attract visitors.
Located in Wat Doi Ti in the Pasak sub-district of Muang district,
the skywalk is open daily from 8am to 5pm. Admission is 50 baht
(US$1.40) per person, with free entry for children under 120cm, seniors
over 75, disabled visitors, and monks.
