Philippine Airlines' (PAL) latest in-flight safety video has caused quite a stir in the online community, racking up close to 250,000 views since its soap opera style video went live on 31 December 2025.

Deviating from the traditional airline videos which typically highlight a destination’s landscapes and iconic destinations, the PAL Safety Novela runs about six and a half minutes, chronicling the love story of a young woman caught in a high stakes love triangle.

'Care That Comes From The Heart' cleverly draws on the style of popular Filipino telenovelas, such as the Spanish hacienda setting, an arranged marriage of the affluent, and the struggle between two lovers separated by class.

The drama continues as reminders roll on: power banks and spare batteries are prohibited in the overhead compartment, set your devices to airplane mode, and how to put on your oxygen masks.

As Luisa tries to reach farm boy Anton, her mother takes her phone away – a perfect segue way to alert passengers to switch mobile and tablet devices to airplane mode.

PAL also managed to pull in picturesque shots of popular Philippine destinations, including Albay, Boracay, Bacolod, Cebu, Palawan and Pangasinan.
