Vistara is embarking on an aggressive expansion plan in overseas markets.

GURUGRAM - Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, believes it has a secret weapon to counter the influence of Middle Eastern airlines on Indian aviation: Live cricket.

The full-service airline will become the country’s first carrier to offer in-flight WiFi and streaming services on its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Vinod Kannan, Vistara chief strategy officer, told Bloomberg that passengers will be able to access sites like Facebook and WhatsApp, and watch live cricket matches, a wildly popular sport in India.

Vistara will receive the first of six Dreamliners later this month and is considering adding more planes as it embarks on an aggressive expansion plan in overseas markets.
