Norwegian launched direct flights to Changi Airport from London's Gatwick four times a week in September 2017. The flight offers 344 seats in a two-class configuration of economy and premium.

When Norwegian Air announced the world’s only budget flight between Singapore and London in September 2017, it was met with much fanfare among travellers. However, come January 2019, the airline will be cancelling the route, according to a report by Straits Times.

Norwegian launched direct flights to Changi Airport from London's Gatwick four times a week in September 2017. The flight offers 344 seats in a two-class configuration of economy and premium.

The cancellation comes despite a steady growth over the past year. A Changi Airport Group spokesman said, "Since the commencement of services on September 29, 2017, there has been a stable growth in passenger traffic between Singapore and London. We will continue to engage the airline and hope that the service will resume at a later date."

The route will now instead be served by other airlines, including Australia’s Qantas, as well as Singapore’s own Singapore Airlines. For those that have already booked tickets after January 2019, the airline will offer alternative options to reach their destination or a full refund.
